MediaTek announced the MediaTek Dimensity 9000 processor last month. The new SoC is based on the new ARM v9 architecture and it is manufactured using 4nm process. The Dimensity 9000 processor supports LPDDR5x RAM, 180Hz refresh rate Full HD+ resolution display, and Bluetooth v5.3 standard.

The devices with Dimensity 9000 are yet to launch in the market. It is said that the smartphones with this new SoC will launch in February 2022. Recent reports suggest that the Redmi K50 series will be the first one to make use of Dimensity 9000 SoC. While we wait to see the actual performance of the new SoC on phones, we have a preliminary benchmark result of the chipset coming in courtesy of AI Benchmark.

Dimensity 9000 Tops AI Benchmark Test Result

If we go by the AI Benchmark listing, we can see that the Dimensity 9000 has topped the list. The chipset has managed to score higher than Google’s Tensor, Exynos 2100, and Kirin 9000 processor. Needless to say that the actual performance of the Dimensity 9000 will matter on devices, instead of the benchmark test results.

To recall, before the introduction of the Dimensity 9000 SoC, Google’s Tensor topped the AI Benchmark test result which managed to gain the score of 256.9 in test result. Speaking about the features of the new Dimensity 9000 SoC, it has one ARM Cortex-X2 CPU core clocked at 3.05GHz, three ARM Cortex-A710 CPU cores clocked at 2.85GHz, and four ARM Cortex-A510 CPU cores clocked at 1.8GHz.

The SoC also includes a 5th generation APU which is claimed to offer 4x better performance and efficiency compared to the previous generation chipset.

The Dimensity 9000 comes accompanied by a 10-core ARM Mali-G710 GPU. The ARM Mali-G710 GPU is claimed to be 60% more power-efficient than the Snapdragon 888’s Adreno GPU. The processor support up to a 180Hz refresh rate at Full HD+ resolution and a 144Hz refresh rate at QHD+ resolution.

The SoC also has support for Wi-Fi 6E 2×2, Bluetooth v5.3, and the new Beidou III-B1C GNSS standard. It also has the ability to capture 4K HDR video on three cameras simultaneously. The Dimensity 9000 is capable of handling three 32MP cameras and is the world’s first ISP that can shoot 320MP images. The SoC also supports 8K video recording at 30fps and 4K recording at 120fps.
